The beauty of nature is only minutes away in beautiful Bluewater!  Whether you wish to hike, cycle, snow shoe or cross country ski, Bluewater trails  offer a variety of terrains from natural paths to partially paved routes, suitable for enthusiasts of all ages and fitness levels.

The Bannockburn Trail is located just outside of Bayfield on Bannockburn Line. This trail begins with a boardwalk that is wheelchair accessible.

The area is home to six different natural communities: wet meadow, eastern white cedar, deciduous forest, old field and mixed scrub and marsh.

The Linfield Wildlife Area is located on Pavilion Road, just south of Bayfield. The trails in the 95 acre Linfield Wildlife Area use an old, tree-lined farm laneway to access a beautiful maple beech forest, babbling brook and ponds. Birds abound in the wide diversity of trees and shrubs.

The high centre point of the farm is a perfect spot for a picnic with scenic vistas of the surrounding countryside and Lake Huron.

Please stay on the trails and respect the cropped farmland.

Everyone who enjoys the adventure of walking in natural surroundings with their families can savour the beauty of the Bayfield River Valley, and the many varied hiking trails that can be found in and around the village. There are well marked and maintained trails for all skill and fitness levels that encourage family day hikes of varying lengths from 1 to 5 kilometres.

The Bayfield River Valley Trails include four unique hiking trails, The Woodland Trail and The Heritage Trail (both beginning at Clan Gregor Square in Bayfield), The Mavis/Taylor Trail (located behind the Stanley Complex in Varna) and The Sawmill Trail (located at the top of Old River Road on the north side of the Bayfield River).

The Klopp Tract is located on Highway 84 just west of Hensall in one of Southwestern Ontario’s largest wetland/woodland areas - the Hay Swamp.

The parking lot has been established along with a commemorative garden, a walking path in the meadow and a hiking trail through a lowland forest.
