Burn Status Update
The following burn status update is shared on behalf of the Huron County Fire Chiefs.
At this time, there is no fire ban in effect within Huron County.
However, due to ongoing wildfire smoke, poor air quality across the region, and extremely dry conditions, we are asking everyone to use extra caution.
Please keep the following in mind:
- No fire ban is currently in effect, however we will continue to monitor and update accordingly.
- Open-air (agricultural) burns are strongly discouraged at this time.
- Recreational campfires are still permitted, but please be extra mindful and practice safe burning habits.
If you choose to have a recreational fire:
- Never leave it unattended.
- Keep water or a fire extinguisher nearby.
- Ensure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving.
- Avoid burning during windy conditions.
Conditions can change quickly. Please continue to monitor your local municipality's website or social media pages.
Thank you for doing your part to help protect our community and reduce the risk of preventable fires
