Council Highlights—October 5

At its Regular Meeting of Council on October 5, 2026, Council of the Municipality of Bluewater:

  • Directed Staff to plant a larger-caliper Freeman Maple cultivar as the replacement for the Bayfield willow tree, located in front of 26 Bayfield Main Street North, as part of the Municipality's spring 2027 tree planting program.
  • Directed Staff to proceed with the no-cost removal of the heritage elm tree located in front of 19 Bayfield Main Street North, subject to the contractor meeting all applicable permitting, insurance and other municipal requirements. Should the no-cost removal option not proceed, Council authorized Staff to proceed with removal of the tree through a competitive procurement process in accordance with the Municipality's Procurement Policy.
  • Directed Staff to plant a tulip tree as the replacement for the heritage elm tree located in front of 19 Bayfield Main Street North, as part of the Municipality's spring 2027 tree planting program.
  • Appointed Paul Courey of Pearsall Marshall LLP to act as legal counsel and represent the Municipality of Bluewater during the proceedings related to Genoch Drain Improvement 2026 matter before the Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Appeal Tribunal, under the Drainage Act.
  • Accepted the petition submitted for works to the Horton Drain in in accordance with section 4 (1) (d) of the Drainage Act R.S.O. 1990 and appointed Streamline Engineering Inc. to investigate and prepare the report under Section 8(1) of the Drainage Act.
