2025 Blue Flag Events

The Municipality of Bluewater is excited to announce that the Village of Bayfield Marina has been awarded the 2025 Blue Flag status!  The Blue Flag Award is a world-wide prestigious eco award that recognizes marinas around the world for achieving 38 strict criteria as set out by The Foundation for Environmental Education. The Village of Bayfield Marina has come to be known as a desired eco destination for national and international boaters in part, thanks to the Blue Flag program and efforts from the municipality, community, and visitors to respect the marina environment, and nature by keeping the water swimmable, drinkable and fishable.

The Municipality of Bluewater, Village of Bayfield Marina and community partners are hosting three FREE Community Activities this summer and fall, and invite you to join:

DIY Kite Making: Make your own kite, and learn about science!
When: Tuesday, July 22nd from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Where: 18 Bayfield Main St., Bayfield, ON (Huron County Library - Bayfield Branch)
Ages 3-99 welcome.

Dark Sky Event: Amateur Astronomers Night for the Perseid meteor shower.
When: Friday, August 22nd from 9:30-11:30 p.m. Rain date is August 25th.
Where: 47 Long Hill Road Bayfield, ON. (Bayfield South Pier)
Weather and seeing conditions permitting. Be sure to bring your own telescope or binoculars.
Register online by Monday, August 18th. Please register using the link so we can notify you of rain date/cancellation and check the Municipality of Bluewater website.

Watershed Awareness Day: tree order pick-up event with Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority.
