Bluewater offering Babysitting and Stay Safe Courses

The Municipality of Bluewater is pleased to offer two upcoming courses for youth who are at the age to care for other children or stay home unsupervised. Provision of these courses has been made possible in part through funding from the Huron County SLED grant. 

Registration is required in advance. Interested participants can register online through the Municipality's ActiveNet portal.

Stay Safe Course

The Stay Safe Course is intended for youth aged 9 to 13. Course participants will learn basic first aid and the safety skills needed to be safe when they are without the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or trusted adult, both at home and in their communities.

Participants must be 9 years of age or have completed Grade 3.

When: Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: Stanley Complex in Varna
Cost: $10

Babysitting Course

The Babysitting Course is intended for  youth aged 11 to 15. The course offers basic first aid and caregiving skills. Participants will learn how to provide care to children in a variety of age groups and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers youth the skills to promote themselves as babysitters to prospective families.

Participants must be 11 years of age or have completed Grade 5.

When: Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cost: $20
