Recreation Programming

We recognize the importance of living healthy, active lifestyles and coming together as a community for fun and recreation. Throughout the summer the municipality offers summer day camp programming at different locations. During winter, public skating is offered at Hensall and Zurich Arenas. Information about these two programs is available on the individual program pages.

Maria has been practicing Pilates and yoga for more than 20 years. She is enthusiastic about sharing their endless benefits with individuals of all ages and abilities. According to Maria, moving with intention is a way of stepping out of your thoughts, to-do list, and expectations. It's a way of feeling while you reintroduce yourself to meeting yourself where you are at, making it a complete lifestyle. Her mindful, creative, and enjoyable classes can help you achieve a sense of well-being.

Yoga-Pilates fusion introduces the modern movement method of Pilates and the ancient mind-body practice of yoga. Both require us to focus on the breath, precise movements, proper alignment, and our core muscles as we flow through the workout.

Whether a beginner or an intermediate-level practitioner, this class provides a balanced experience and challenges you to work your entire body from head to toe. Building a solid foundation is essential for gaining awareness and fully experiencing the mindful benefits of a Yoga-Pilates fusion workout. The class is conducted slowly and steadily, allowing you to pay close attention to the details. The class is also an excellent opportunity to enhance your practice, achieve a more profound level of improved flexibility, and deepen your connection to your physical body.

To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable Yoga-Pilates fusion class experience, we kindly request that all attendees bring an exercise mat and a water bottle. Additionally, we recommend bringing a yoga blanket, bolster and strap for added support during certain poses. These optional items will help you get the most out of your practice.

Drop-ins are welcome, but you must register online before attending the class.

Celebrating Earth Week by learning how to cook meals from ingredients grown in your garden is a wonderful way to involve kids in the process of preparing food. By creating kid-friendly meals with locally sourced produce, you not only nurture their culinary skills but also foster a connection back to nature. This hands-on approach can help children appreciate the origins of their food and promote healthier eating habits.
