Public Skating

Physical activity and recreation are important to the health of our community, particularly in the winter months. Public skating at both the Zurich and Hensall Arena tarts back in September of each year!

Hensall Arena-opens September 14

• Public Skating: Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:20 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 1:20 p.m.
• Open Daytime Skate: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 to 11:20 a.m.
• Parent and Tot: Tuesdays 9 to 9:50 a.m.

Zurich Arena-opens September 21

• Public Skating: Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:20 p.m. and Sundays 2 to 3:20 p.m.
• Open Daytime Skate: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 to 11:20 a.m.

Family Stick and Puck

This new program for 2026 starts October 16th.

• Fridays from 4:30 to 5:20 p.m. at the Hensall Arena
• $13.27 plus tax (child + adult fee)

Family and Puck provides an upbeat environment for families to improve skating, stick handling, puck control, passing and other related hockey skills. Children must be accompanied by a guardian who is 18 years or older on the ice.

Rates

Individual Rate: $2 per person
Family Rate (maximum 4 persons): $5
Open Daytime Skate and Parent and Tot Skate: Free

Public skating dates are advertised on Bluewater’s social media pages.

Please note:

• Parental supervision is required for patrons under 12 years of age.
• No sticks or hockey pucks permitted—only skating is permitted.
• CSA approved helmets are strongly recommended for all skaters.

Our arenas are closed December 25th, 26th and January 1st.

Sponsored skates

Sponsor a skate!

We welcome sponsorship of public skates from individuals, businesses and organizations. Public skating is offered to the public at a cost of $2 per person or $5 per family, but your generous sponsorship would allow these skating sessions to be offered to the public free of charge. Sponsoring a public skate not only provides your business/organization with advertising at the event and on municipal social media pages, but it also contributes to the wellbeing of our community.
