The Municipality of Bluewater is committed to a pet-friendly community where responsible pet owners help keep our community clean and safe. The Municipality's animal control by-law outlines rules and regulations for animal ownership in the Municipality of Bluewater. 

Please clean up after your dog using dog waste bags provided by the Municipality. Dispensers are conveniently located in municipal parks, ball diamonds and cemeteries.

Who to call

The Municipality's by-law enforcement staff deal with dog related complaints. Contact the by-law enforcement division to report:

• A dog attack (such as a bite) or an animal behaving in a way that poses a risk to the safety of people or other animals. Dog bites should be reported immediately. See our dog bites page for more information.
• A pit bull (banned under the Dog Owners Liability Act)
• An animal related noise complaint.

Contact 911 (emergency) when any life is in immediate danger, such as:

• An animal attack resulting in serious injury to people or other animals that requires emergency medical attention
• A dog or cock fighting ring underway
• An act of animal cruelty underway, such as beating or torturing of an animal
• An animal left unattended in a hot or cold vehicle

Call 1-833-9-ANIMAL (264625) to report animals in distress or animals being neglected (i.e., pet, farm animal, wild animal in captivity) to the Ontario Animal Protection Call Centre. This includes animals that are injured, in pain, sick, suffering or abused and animals that lack proper care, water, food or shelter.
