Stanley Landfill

The Stanley landfill is open to the residents and businesses of Bluewater for disposal of waste generated in Bluewater. It is located at 38594 Mill Road in Varna and can be accessed through the Stanley Complex parking lot.

Landfill hours of operation

The Stanley Landfill is open to the public on the following days: 

  • First and third Monday of every month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Second and fourth Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

During the months of June, July, and August, the landfill is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Landfill passes

Landfill users must provide proof of residency by showing a valid landfill pass (blue card) upon every visit to the landfill. Photo identification may be requested. If you do not have a landfill pass, please contact the municipal office and we will be happy to assist you. Tenant and commercial landfill accounts are also available.

Changes to accepted materials

In an effort to extend the useful life of the Stanley landfill, we are no longer able to accept bulk materials and construction waste in excess of 5 m3 generated from one location. Alternative options for waste disposal include but are not limited to:

We do not have any affiliation or agreements/contracts with these facilities, so individuals requiring bulk material or construction waste disposal will need to contact the private facilities to confirm availability.

Accepted materials

The following materials are accepted at the Stanley landfill: 

  • E-waste
  • Construction and demolition material, including clean wood
  • Mattresses and box springs
  • Recyclable materials
  • Refrigerated appliances that are certified refrigerant (Freon) free. 
  • Residential waste
  • Scrap metal
  • Yard waste

Prohibited materials

The following materials are not accepted at the Stanley landfill, as set out in by-law 50-2014:

  • Concrete
  • Crop residue
  • Hazardous waste
  • Liquid waste
  • Propane tanks
  • Tires
  • Tree stumps

We are no longer able to accept bulk materials and construction waste in excess of 5 m3 generated from one location.

Tipping fees (rates) to use the landfill are charged at the gate. These fees are approved by by-law. A copy of the by-law can be requested by contacting the municipal office.
