Bachand Street Extension

When completing road, sewer or waterwork activities, municipalities must comply with the Environmental Assessment Act of Ontario (EA Act). Municipalities use an approved planning process call the "Municipal Class Environmental Assessment" (MCEA) to review their project for compliance with the Environmental Assessment Act. By completing a MCEA, municipalities can evaluate alternative approaches and methods to a project and identify possible environmental impacts. 

Bluewater initiated a MCEA study in July 2025 to review the proposed Bachand Street extension. The project involves the extension of Bachand Street—including opening Georgianna Street between Gendron and Bachand— upgrading roadways to municipal standards, and installing a new storm sewer outlet. 

The MCEA for the Extension of Bachand Street and Storm Sewer Outlet has been prepared by B.M. Ross and Associates. 

A notice of completion has been issued under the MECA process. The MECA document will be available for public review for a 30-day period ending October 30, 2026. Any comments submitted become part of the public record. Please see the full notice for more details.
